Veteran Ghanaian coach Bashir Hayford has parted ways with Heart of Lions following the expiration of his contract, Ekuzoanews.com can exclusively report.
Hayford’s tenure with the Kpando-based side has officially come to an end after his deal expired, with both parties opting not to extend their relationship ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Sources have told Ekuzoanews.com that Heart of Lions have already begun the process of appointing a new head coach, with an announcement expected in the coming days as preparations for the new campaign intensify.
Hayford, one of Ghana’s most accomplished football coaches, has previously managed Medeama SC, Asante Kotoko, AshantiGold SC and Legon Cities. He also served as head coach of the Ghana U-17 women’s national team, the Black Maidens, further cementing his reputation as one of the country’s most experienced tacticians.
Heart of Lions are keen to appoint a successor swiftly to ensure continuity ahead of pre-season and the commencement of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The club is expected to officially confirm Hayford’s departure and unveil a new head coach once the appointment process is finalised.
