Basake Holy Stars winger Gideon Kofi Quaison has completed a move to newly promoted Egyptian Premier League side Abu Qir Semads Football Club, signing a two-year contract with the Alexandria-based outfit, Ekuzoanews.com can report.
The 21-year-old winger becomes the latest Ghanaian talent to make the switch to Egyptian football following an encouraging spell with Basake Holy Stars during the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Quaison’s move represents a major career breakthrough, with the talented wide man now set to test himself in one of Africa’s most competitive and technically demanding domestic leagues.
Abu Qir Semads, who secured promotion to the Egyptian top flight, have been proactive in strengthening their squad ahead of their maiden campaign among Egypt’s elite, with Quaison expected to add pace, creativity and attacking dynamism to their ranks.
The Alexandria-based club was established in 1987 by Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemicals Industries Company and has steadily climbed through the Egyptian football pyramid to reach the country’s top division.
Quaison’s arrival will also see him reunite with former Basake Holy Stars teammate Prince Tweneboah, who has completed his own move to Abu Qir Semads.

Quaison joined Basake Holy Stars following the expiration of his contract with Ghanaian giants Medeama SC. He previously featured for Rospak SC, where he gained valuable experience before earning the opportunity to showcase his abilities in the Ghana Premier League.
His latest transfer further emphasises the growing pathway between Ghanaian football and the Egyptian top flight, which continues to attract emerging talents from across the continent.
