23-year-old forward seals move to Egyptian Premier League outfit ahead of 2026/27 season

Accra Hearts of Oak forward Mawuli Wayo has completed his transfer to Egyptian Premier League side El Qanah FC ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The 23-year-old attacker brings his time with the Phobians to a close after serving the historic club, with his move to Egypt presenting a fresh opportunity to continue his development and make an impact on the international stage.

Wayo confirmed his departure in a heartfelt farewell message, expressing gratitude to HRM Togbe Afede, the club’s management, technical team, his teammates and the supporters for the opportunity to represent Hearts of Oak.

“With a heart full of gratitude, I express my sincere appreciation to HRM Togbe Afede, Management, the Technical Team, the playing body and the supporters at large for the opportunity and honour done me to serve this great club, which I did to the best of my abilities.

“I leave this great family with so much pride, and may Accra Hearts of Oak continue to grow from strength to strength.”

The former King Faisal and Bibiani Gold Stars FC attacker now turns his attention to a new chapter in Egypt, where he will be hoping to establish himself and contribute to El Qanah’s ambitions in the upcoming campaign.

The transfer highlights the forward’s growing ambitions and his determination to broaden his horizons, offering him the opportunity to experience a different footballing environment while competing in one of Africa’s notable domestic leagues.
