Karela United slapped with FIFA registration ban over unpaid Sana Camara debt

Karela United have been hit with a FIFA registration ban after failing to settle a financial obligation owed to former player Sana Camara.

The ban was communicated to the Ghanaian club by FIFA through its Legal Portal in a letter dated August 17, 2026.

According to the letter, Karela United have failed to comply with a previous FIFA decision, referenced as FPSD-23160, which ordered the club to fulfil its financial obligations to Camara.

FIFA has consequently imposed a ban preventing the club from registering new players both internationally and domestically.

The sanction will remain in force until the outstanding amount owed to Camara is fully paid, with the ban capable of lasting for a maximum of three entire and consecutive registration periods.

FIFA has further instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to immediately implement the registration ban at the national level, if it has not already done so.

The development comes as a setback to Karela United’s plans to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, as the club will be unable to register new signings until the financial dispute is resolved.

The FIFA communication was signed by Américo Espallargas, FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary, and copied to Sana Camara, PCN Sportiva and the Ghana Football Association.

Karela United must now settle the outstanding financial obligation to Camara to have the registration restriction lifted.
