The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans to organise a License D Coaching Course in the Western Region, as part of its sustained drive to enhance coaching standards and strengthen the technical architecture of football development in the country.

The eight-day programme is scheduled for November 23–30, 2026, at Bompeh Senior High School in Takoradi, with aspiring and practising coaches expected to participate in the intensive training.

The initiative reflects the GFA’s commitment to equipping coaches with contemporary technical knowledge and practical competencies required to nurture football talent at the grassroots and developmental levels.

The License D Coaching Course is expected to provide participants with a structured platform to deepen their understanding of fundamental coaching principles, player development, training methodologies and the tactical demands of the modern game.

Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical sessions, participants will be exposed to essential aspects of coaching aimed at improving their ability to plan, execute and evaluate effective training programmes.

The Western Region remains one of Ghana’s traditional football strongholds, boasting a rich reservoir of playing and coaching talent. The staging of the course in Takoradi is therefore expected to provide an important avenue for coaches within the region and beyond to upgrade their knowledge and improve their professional credentials.

Coach education has become an increasingly indispensable component of modern football, with technically proficient coaches playing a pivotal role in identifying, developing and maximising the potential of young footballers.

The GFA’s latest initiative is consequently expected to contribute to the creation of a more competent coaching workforce capable of imparting modern football philosophies and fostering sustainable player development.

The November 23–30 programme at Bompeh Senior High School will offer participants an opportunity to broaden their technical horizons while taking another significant step towards advancing their coaching careers.

The course is also expected to reinforce the GFA’s broader objective of establishing a well-structured coaching pathway that can ultimately elevate the quality and competitiveness of Ghanaian football.
