Regional Ministers-designate for Western, Western North, and Central appointed

To improve governance and forward his administration’s development objectives, President John Dramani Mahama has announced the second round of regional ministers nominations.

There are nominations from the Western, Western North, and Central regions on the new list, which supplements the 10 that were previously released.

There are now 13 regional ministers-designate, with three areas still unaccounted for.

The nominees are Wilbert Petty Brentum for Western North, Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere for Central, and Joseph Nelson for Western.

The remaining areas are Upper West, Bono, and Bono East.

Profiles

Wilbert Petty Brentum – Western North

He has decades of expertise as a mining specialist, local government official, politician, and certified accountant.

In addition to serving as an assembly member in the Juaboso District’s Juaboso Electoral Area, he has held technical, managerial, and regulatory positions in the mining sector.

Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere – Central

With more than 20 years of leadership experience in general administration, education, and governance, he is a management specialist and educationist.

He led development projects in the Gomoa East Constituency throughout his two terms as a member of parliament.

He has created and implemented training programs that have empowered more than 5,000 artisans and apprentices in his present role as Executive Director of the Centre for Artisan and Apprentice Development.

From the University of Cape Coast, Mr. Okyere has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a General Management MBA, and a Management Studies Diploma.

Joseph Nelson – Western

Mr. Joseph Nelson is an expert in economic, financial, and public administration who has managed businesses in Ghana and the UK for a long time.

He has an MSc in International Finance and Economic Policy from the University of Glasgow, UK; an MSc in Microfinance from the University of Cape Coast; and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Management Science from the University of Northampton, UK.

He was the Youth Employment Agency’s (YEA) Regional Director before entering the public sector.
