Obuasi East: Two military officers attacked by party agents

The Obuasi East constituency voting booth has seen two military officers attacked by party agents. The fully armed soldiers made an effort to enter the polling place during the general elections in 2024.

When they arrived, the party agents purportedly affiliated with the National Democratic Congress told them to vacate the property right away or risk being reported to the police.

A physical conflict broke out between the two troops and the party agents as a result of this request.

The troops apparently refused to follow the party agents’ orders, which caused the situation to rapidly worsen.

There have been calls for clarification regarding the military’s role and presence throughout the electoral process after the event sparked worries about their presence at polling places.

In order to protect the integrity and safety of the local election process, authorities are expected to look into the situation.
