Basake Holy Stars head coach Abdulai Gazale says his charges are fully prepared for their Ghana Premier League Matchweek 2 encounter against Young Apostles at the Wenchi Park on Sunday.

The Coconut Grove-based-based side made a promising start to the 2026/27 campaign after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over newly promoted Swedru All Blacks in their opening fixture at the Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III Sports Arena.

Young Apostles, meanwhile, will be seeking redemption after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Vision FC in their opening game of the season.

Speaking during the pre-match conference ahead of Sunday’s encounter, Gazale disclosed that preparations have been intense since their opening-day victory, with the technical team placing particular emphasis on the tactical organisation of the side.

“We are ready. The players look good and everybody is poised for action. We have been preparing since Monday after our match against Swedru All Blacks,” Gazale said.

“I think everybody is doing well and everybody is preparing towards the game. I can see that everyone is working hard and preparing very well ahead of Young Apostles.”

The experienced tactician acknowledged the demands of playing away from home and revealed that particular attention has been devoted to striking the right balance between defensive solidity and attacking efficiency.

“Because it is going to be an away game, we are working on the team structure in terms of defensive and offensive [organisation],” he added.

Holy Stars will enter Sunday’s fixture with confidence following their narrow victory over Swedru All Blacks, with Francis Oteng’s 80th-minute strike proving decisive in their opening league outing.

The victory also earned Oteng the NASCO Player of the Match accolade, giving Gazale’s side an early boost as they seek to build on last season’s 12th-place finish.

However, the Nzema outfit will face a Young Apostles side determined to respond strongly after their disappointing opening-day defeat.

With both teams eager to establish themselves early in the campaign, Sunday’s encounter at the Wenchi Park promises to be a stern tactical examination for Gazale and his charges.
