Kubala King deported to Ghana after controversial land occupation in Scotland

Kofi Offeh, popularly known as Kubala King, has been deported to Ghana after a widely publicised land dispute in Jedburgh-Scotland, where he claimed ancestral ownership of a parcel of land.

The 36-year-old Ghanaian made international headlines after occupying a forested area in the Scottish Borders and declaring himself “King Atehene.” He was joined by his partner, Jean Gasho, also known as Queen Nandi, and another associate identified as Kaura Taylor.

The group claimed they were reclaiming land they believed belonged to their ancestors and had been taken centuries ago. Their actions attracted significant media attention, with major international outlets including the BBC and Sky News reporting on the development.

Authorities, however, determined that the group was occupying private property without authorisation and issued an eviction notice in August 2025.

Following their eviction, they relocated to a nearby site owned by the Scottish Borders Council, but enforcement action against them continued.

Further checks by immigration officials later revealed that Offeh had breached UK immigration laws by overstaying his visa. This led to his eventual deportation to Ghana.

The incident has drawn public interest both in the United Kingdom and Ghana, highlighting issues surrounding land ownership claims and immigration compliance.
