GhanaPolls2024: We have a robust system to find electoral offenders – NPP

A case of election malfeasance involving an election Commission officer in Kintampo South has been publicly denounced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The officer, Joseph Dery, was taken into custody for allegedly distributing ballots during the voting process that failed to include the name of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the first presidential contender.

Many in the NPP and its supporters were incensed by the development, seeing it as a deliberate attempt to compromise the fairness of the election process.

A police report claims that Joseph Dery was taken into custody after party agents and watchful polling station officials expressed worry about irregularities in the ballots being distributed at his station.

At a press conference held after the incident, Bawumia Campaign spokesperson Denis Miracles Aboagye expressed the party’s dismay and reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Ghana’s democracy. Law enforcement officials swiftly intervened after the alert and arrested Dery.

“The NPP is calling for Joseph Dery’s immediate prosecution because whatever he has done was a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise the Ghanaian people and the Ghanaian voter and to deny them their fundamental human right to vote

“Let every individual that has also been engaged by the NDC to perpetuate such acts to note that we are going to find you out because we have a robust system in place in every polling station to find you no matter the machinations.”
