President John Dramani Mahama has approved a major reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat, with six senior officials receiving new appointments or being reassigned with immediate effect.

The latest changes form part of a broader restructuring of the Secretariat aimed at strengthening its operational, intelligence, investigative and administrative functions.

Under the new arrangement, Major (Rtd.) General William Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, has been appointed Deputy National Security Coordinator (Operations).

The appointment places the retired senior military officer in a key operational position within the country’s national security architecture.

Former National Security Coordinator, Yaw Donkor, has also been given a new responsibility at the Office of the National Security Advisor, where he will serve as Director of Intelligence and Research.

Other appointments include Adamu Saaka, who has been named Director of Logistics and Transport, while Faustina Effah-Boadi becomes Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department.

In the area of specialised investigations, DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri has been appointed Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.

Meanwhile, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.

The Presidency said the appointments and reassignments take immediate effect.

The changes were announced in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
