The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to receive a total of $12.5 million from FIFA to support the Black Stars’ campaign toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The package includes $2.5 million dedicated to Ghana’s preparations for the tournament and an additional $10 million tied to participation in the qualifying stages.
The funding forms part of FIFA’s decision to significantly increase financial support for member associations, with total tournament-related payouts now approaching $900 million.
Football authorities say the funds will play a crucial role in strengthening the Black Stars’ technical and logistical readiness. This includes covering costs related to training camps, international friendlies, player welfare, and travel arrangements.
The move comes as the global football governing body expands the World Cup format, creating more opportunities for nations to qualify and compete on the world stage.
For Ghana, the financial boost is expected to enhance preparations and improve competitiveness as the team aims to secure qualification and make a strong impact at the tournament.
Stakeholders believe the increased investment will not only support immediate preparations but also contribute to the long-term development of football in the country.
