John Dumelo, Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West, has launched a free “Ghana Made” cocoa drinks program aimed at promoting local products and supporting community welfare within his constituency.

The initiative, unveiled yesterday, targets students, traders, and other residents, encouraging them to embrace locally produced cocoa beverages while highlighting the value of homegrown industries. The program reflects Dumelo’s ongoing commitment to championing made-in-Ghana products as a way to boost the economy and create sustainable opportunities for citizens.
Speaking at the launch, Dumelo underscored the nutritional benefits of cocoa and its critical role in Ghana’s economy. He noted that despite Ghana being a leading cocoa producer, local consumption of cocoa-based products remains low. “This initiative is not just about giving out drinks; it is about fostering pride in our local industries and supporting the farmers and manufacturers who drive our economy,” he said.

Residents warmly received the initiative, praising it as a practical demonstration of community engagement and social responsibility. Many described it as a thoughtful gesture that combines health, education, and economic advocacy.
Beyond its immediate impact, the program is expected to spark conversations about local enterprise development, youth involvement in agribusiness, and national consumption of Ghanaian products. By linking community outreach with economic empowerment, Dumelo’s cocoa drinks initiative strengthens both social cohesion and the “Buy Ghana, Build Ghana” agenda at the grassroots level.
