The government’s proposals to privatize the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have drawn criticism from the Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC-Ghana).
In a statement from PUWU, the Minister of Energy has formed a committee to advance the privatisation process.
“We would like to assure our members of our resolve to resist any attempt by the government to privatize ECG. PUWU has not yet been engaged as a key stakeholder,” the statement read.
While leadership takes the required actions to resolve the matter, the union urged its members to remain calm.
“Members are kindly requested to remain calm while we take appropriate steps towards achieving our goal. All should be on standby for any further direction,”
