President Mahama Announces First Ministerial Nominations

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the first set of ministerial nominations for his administration, marking a significant step in forming his government. The nominees were submitted to the Speaker of Parliament in line with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

The president’s selections, which aim to bring expertise and dynamism to key sectors, include:

1. Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson – Minister for Finance Designate

2. Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister for Energy Designate

3. Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine – Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Designate

Profiles of the Nominees

Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson

Dr. Forson is a distinguished Economist, Chartered Accountant, and Tax Practitioner with vast experience in public finance, macroeconomics, fiscal policy, tax policy, and business management. A five-term lawmaker, he holds a PhD in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also earned Master of Science degrees in Taxation and Economics from the University of Oxford and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, respectively. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from London South Bank University.

Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor

With extensive qualifications and hands-on experience in energy economics and finance, Hon. Jinapor is poised to inject dynamism into Ghana’s energy sector. He holds a Master of Arts Degree (MA) in Economic Policy Management, an MBA in Marketing, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Development Finance from the University of Ghana. He further holds an MSc in Energy Economics from GIMPA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London.

Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine

These nominations are expected to reflect President Mahama’s commitment to appointing individuals with strong academic backgrounds, professional expertise, and political experience to drive his government’s agenda.

The nominees will await parliamentary vetting and approval before assuming their respective roles.
