Nzema-born talent Owusu Ansah featured for 75 minutes as Port City FC suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Medeama SC in their rescheduled Ghana Premier League (GPL) Matchweek Two fixture on Wednesday at the TnA Park in Tarkwa.
Ansah was handed a starting berth by the Daasebre Boamah Darko II- outfit and completed 75 minutes before being substituted as Port City sought to withstand Medeama’s pressure and leave Tarkwa with a positive result.
The encounter had been postponed due to Medeama SC’s participation in the CAF Champions League, with the Tarkwa-based side’s continental campaign eventually coming to an end in the preliminary round following their elimination by DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.
Following the conclusion of Medeama’s continental commitments, the outstanding league fixture was rescheduled and played on Wednesday, with the home side eventually securing all three points through a solitary goal.
Despite Port City’s efforts to force their way back into the contest, Medeama held firm to claim a slender victory and hand the visitors a setback in their GPL campaign.
Owusu Ansah’s appearance at the TNA Park represents another noteworthy step in his burgeoning career and further highlights the pathway from regional football to Ghana’s elite division.
The promising player joined Port City FC from Nzema-based Western Regional Football Association (WRFA) Division Two side Chicago FC during the recent transfer window.

His move to the Eastern part of the country has handed him an opportunity to test his abilities against some of the country’s established top-flight sides after developing his craft in the Western Regional Football Association (WRFA) Division Two competition.
The 75-minute outing against Medeama adds valuable top-flight experience to Ansah’s burgeoning career as he continues his adaptation to the demands of Ghana’s premier domestic football competition.
For the Nzema football fraternity, Ansah’s transition from Chicago FC to the Ghana Premier League represents another encouraging development in the continued emergence of footballing talents from the region.
His progress with Port City will be closely followed as the GPL season gathers pace and the former Chicago FC player seeks to establish himself at the highest level of domestic football.
