Mahama promises to establish Agric University in Afram Plains

John Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has promised that if won on December 7, he will build an agriculturally oriented institution in the Afram Plains region.

The university would empower young people and support agricultural development, according to the previous president.

Mr. Mahama was speaking at a campaign event at the Afram Plains South Constituency’s Maame Krobo.

He emphasized that the university would work as a premier hub for agricultural research and training to improve farming methods.

Although the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was unable to construct the university, Mahama pointed out that he had obtained funds for the project prior to his departure.

“When we were in government, we obtained a loan facility from Korea to establish a university here in Afram Plains. Unfortunately, we left office, and when our brothers came in, they appropriated the funds elsewhere, depriving this place of a university.

“So don’t be wary, when we come into government, we will find money to establish this agricultural university. The university will be headquartered in Somanya, Eastern Region, and will have a campus in both Afram Plains North and South,” he stated.
