Concerned Youth of Nzema to Demonstrate Against Ghana Gas CEO

The Concerned Youth of Nzema has officially notified the Ghana Police Service of their intention to hold a peaceful demonstration against Dr. Ben Asante, CEO of Ghana Gas. The protest, scheduled for Wednesday, 5th February 2025, aims to demand the removal of Dr. Asante from office and call for the appointment of an Nzema native as the new CEO.

According to a letter addressed to the District Commander of the Ghana Police Service in Esiama, the protest will begin at 9:00 AM from Alla-Bokazo to the Gas Complex. The group is requesting police presence to ensure security and order throughout the demonstration.

The conveners, Ruth Kabutey Jonas, Patrick Ellonu, and Hans James Menlah, emphasize that the Nzema people have been sidelined in leadership roles, despite their region being central to Ghana’s oil and gas industry. They believe appointing an Nzema as CEO would promote fairness and representation.

The Concerned Youth of Nzema is urging the government and relevant authorities to address their demands and ensure equitable leadership in Ghana Gas.
