Zenator Rawlings elected 2nd Vice President of Pan-African Parliament

Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings, has been elected as the 2nd Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) following a decisive vote.

She secured victory with 131 votes against her contender who polled 51 votes in an election held during a sitting of the continental legislative body.

Her election is seen as a significant milestone for Ghana, reinforcing the country’s influence in continental governance and its active role within the African Union framework.

The Pan-African Parliament, an organ of the African Union, serves as a platform to ensure the full participation of African peoples in governance, development, and economic integration across the continent.

As 2nd Vice President, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings is expected to support the leadership of the Parliament in coordinating its activities, strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, and promoting policies that advance democracy, peace, and sustainable development in Africa.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, a medical doctor and experienced legislator, has been widely recognised for her advocacy in public health, youth development, and social equity.

Her elevation also adds to the growing number of women occupying key leadership positions within continental institutions, a development many observers have described as a step in the right direction.

Her supporters and political observers alike are optimistic that she will bring her experience to bear in her new role and contribute meaningfully to the work of the Pan-African Parliament.
