Revealed: How Bruno Fernandes wife Ana convinced him to snub Saudi move & stay at Man Utd

Bruno Fernandes has opened up on the key role his wife, Ana Pinho, played in his decision to reject a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League and remain at Manchester United.

Loyalty Over Luxury

The Manchester United captain had been heavily linked with a big-money switch to the Middle East, as Saudi clubs continued their push to attract top European talent.

Despite the financial appeal, Fernandes chose to stay at Old Trafford and continue pursuing silverware with the club. The Portuguese playmaker has been in impressive form, playing a key role in United’s push up the table with notable goal contributions and assists.

A Grounded Family Perspective

Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show on BBC Sport, Fernandes revealed that his decision was driven more by ambition than money.

He emphasized that both he and his wife share similar values, focusing on achieving their dreams, maintaining family stability, and raising their children in a fulfilling environment rather than chasing extreme wealth.

“I stayed because I thought I still had something that I can give back to the club. We don’t want to be the richest people in the world. We want to achieve our dreams and live a good life with our kids.”

Chasing the Dream

Fernandes disclosed that a simple but powerful question from his wife ultimately influenced his final decision.

“She asked me, ‘Have you achieved your dreams? Have you achieved everything you wanted?’ That made me realise we are on the same page. Let’s keep trying and see where this takes me.”
