Fatawu Issahaku, Jordan Ayew’s Leicester City relegated to League One

Leicester City have been relegated to the English League One after enduring a disappointing 2025/26 campaign.

The Foxes’ drop to the third tier was confirmed following a string of poor results, bringing an abrupt end to their hopes of salvaging the season.

Ghana internationals Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Jordan Ayew were both part of the Leicester squad that failed to maintain their status, despite their individual efforts throughout the campaign.

Fatawu, who joined the club with high expectations, showed flashes of his quality with his pace and attacking intent but was unable to consistently influence games to help the team’s survival push.

Ayew, one of the senior figures in the squad, contributed with his experience and work rate, but Leicester’s struggles across the pitch ultimately proved too much to overcome.

The relegation marks a significant downturn for the former Premier League champions, who have now slipped into League One after failing to find consistency in the Championship.

Attention will now turn to the future of key players, including the Ghanaian duo, as Leicester prepare for life in the third tier and aim to rebuild ahead of next season.
