The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has reaffirmed government’s resolve to reinforce key institutions at the heart of Ghana’s mining governance architecture, following a working visit to the Minerals Development Fund (MDF).
The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional efficiency, deepen accountability, and ensure the effective translation of mineral revenues into sustainable development outcomes within mining host communities.
During an engagement with management and staff of the Fund, discussions focused on enhancing operational effectiveness and aligning strategic interventions with the developmental needs of affected communities across the country.
Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah urged institutions under his Ministry to maintain an unwavering focus on results-driven execution and accountability, stressing that communities in mining areas must witness tangible and transformative improvements in their livelihoods.
His remarks were described as both timely and galvanising, arriving at a pivotal moment as the Fund intensifies its developmental interventions across mining enclaves.
Management of the MDF, in response, expressed deep appreciation for the Minister’s visit, noting that his engagement had reinvigorated staff morale and strengthened their collective commitment to delivering on the Fund’s mandate with renewed urgency and precision.
They further observed that the Minister’s call for measurable impact and institutional excellence had resonated strongly within the organisation, reinforcing a culture of performance and purpose.
The Minerals Development Fund continues to serve as a critical conduit for channeling mineral revenues into infrastructure development, social intervention programmes, and livelihood enhancement initiatives in mining communities nationwide.
The visit is expected to further consolidate collaboration between the Ministry and the MDF, as government intensifies efforts to ensure that Ghana’s natural resource wealth yields inclusive, equitable, and lasting development dividends.
