African nations have been urged by President John Dramani Mahama to take advantage of changing global dynamics in order to secure their position in the changing economic landscape.
During his speech at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, the President emphasized the importance of Africa embracing manufacturing, industrialization, and entrepreneurship in place of its old trading orientation.
“The world is changing, and new opportunities are being thrown up. We, as a country, must take advantage of those opportunities,” President Mahama stated.
He emphasized how the continuing trade battles between the world’s major economic powers are causing global production shifts and giving Africa a rare opportunity to make its mark.
“Africa has frequently missed out on the benefits of major global transitions, from the Cold War to the era of globalization,” the president said, reflecting on historical trends. He was upbeat, nevertheless, about the continent’s capacity to take advantage of the recent geopolitical shifts.
President Mahama encouraged ambitious forays into agribusiness, internet entrepreneurship, and large-scale commercial farming, calling on Africans to reconsider their economic roles.
“We can be anything that we want,” he affirmed.
Policymakers, businesspeople, and investors continue to use the Kwahu Business Forum as a forum to talk about how to empower the private sector and promote economic growth throughout Ghana and the continent.
