Prez. Mahama orders manhunt for ‘fugitives’ in NSA scandal

Some suspects in the National Sports Authority (NSA) finance scandal have escaped, according to President John Mahama.

“I have instructed security agencies to declare them wanted,” he said Thursday, February 27, in Parliament during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of his second term.

The President asserts that accountability is necessary for those involved in the affair since state resources cannot be plundered without consequence.

“Such brazen stealing of state resources should not go unpunished,” he emphasised, vowing that his government would ensure that justice is served.

Mahama gave Ghanaians his word that his government is still dedicated to combating corruption and bolstering institutions to stop financial mismanagement.

He reaffirmed that actions were already being taken to find and apprehend these wanted suspects.

The President also called on all relevant authorities to work together in order to recover the stolen money and stop future incidents of this kind.

He promised rigorous enforcement of the law to safeguard public resources and reassured the country that corruption would not be tolerated by his administration.
