The state of our nation isn’t good; the economy is in crisis – Mahama insists

In his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of his second term, President John Dramani Mahama expressed grave concern about the state of the country, saying that Ghana’s economy is in crisis and that its citizens are suffering greatly.

He insisted that immediate action was required to address the economic downturn, saying, “The state of our nation is not good. Our economy is in crisis and our people are suffering.”

He attributed the current issues to a number of economic challenges, such as rising inflation, high debt levels, and a faltering private sector, which he claimed has resulted in higher unemployment and a drop in the standard of living for many Ghanaians.

President Mahama promised the country and Parliament that his administration will act decisively to stabilize the economy.

He emphasized the necessity of strategic plans to support regional industries, enhance revenue production, and efficiently manage the national debt.

“We cannot ignore the struggles of our people. My administration is committed to implementing bold reforms that will restore economic stability and bring relief to households and businesses,” he assured.
