The ongoing scandal in Equatorial Guinea is rooted in a power play between two factions fighting to replace the current President, according to a report from the BBC.

The BBC reports that Baltasar Engonga’s ongoing troubles are the results of machinations by the country’s Vice President, Teodoro Obiang Mangue.

Mangue, who is the son of the current President, is reportedly pushing to replace him when he eventually dies. Baltasar, who is a nephew of the President and immensely popular, is reportedly seen as one of the potential successors to his seat.

The BBC reports that Mangue allegedly moved to eliminate Baltasar as a threat by placing him under investigation, investigations which eventually led to his imprisonment and the seizure of his electronic devices and the later leak of his videos.

The videos which are allegedly over 400 show Baltasar engaging in intercourse with dozens of women some of whom are wives of prominent people in the country as well as some of his relatives!

The scandal has captivated the world as sex often does but beneath it all, there is a power play at work. Read the full BBC article here-https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr4ledr19nyo.
