The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana, (CETAG) is set to resume its strike by next, after members of the Association laid down their tools for over two months.
This will add to a number of strike actions currently ongoing in the country, with just about two months to the December presidential and parliamentary elections.
Among the labour unions currently on strike include the Senior Staff Association of Public Universities, the Ghana Association of University Administrators, and the Tertiary Education Workers Union (TEWU).
Their issues, generally revolve around unresolved allowances which they are asking the government to address.
CETAG, after ending its two-month old strike, which is the longest in its history, the Association is citing government’s failure to honor their agreement, making it warn of another strike.
Dominic Owusu, the Spokesperson for CETAG, has disclosed that the government has gone to sleep without fulfilling its part of the agreement they had after calling off the earlier strike.
“It is so surprising that the government has gone back to sleep and there is no peace with the dragging of feet with the implementation of the arbitrary awards. As I speak, most of the agreements signed on August 19 have been violated.
“If our calls and demands are not heeded, then there will be a full-blown strike next week,” he said.
