According to the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), those detained for violating the current Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are being prepared for legal proceedings.
Over nine people have been taken into custody in connection with the ongoing BECE.
District Directors of Education and Supervisors attended briefing sessions before to the exam, primarily to inform them of the new regulations regulating the examination, according to a statement released by WAEC on Tuesday.
One of the things that was communicated to the supervisors was that they were not allowed to bring cell phones to the examination locations. There was a strong warning issued against this behavior.
“However, some chose not to heed this advice and so they were arrested by the NIB and the locally recruited agents by WAEC and handed over to the police,” it added.
