President Nana Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his commitment to boosting mobility and infrastructure along Accra’s windward corridors on Friday, November 29, when he officially opened Phase Two of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange.
Building a 550-meter viaduct and ramps to connect Graphic Road to Dr. Busia Highway (Kaneshie-Mallam Road) was part of the project’s first phase.
Additionally, a storm drain of comparable size that extended to the Ring Road West lane and a culvert were constructed across Graphic Road.
During the inauguration ceremony, President Akufo-Addo expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I am very happy to be here to commission Phase Two of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange.”
He emphasized that the project is concrete proof of the government’s steadfast dedication to modernizing the country’s infrastructure, boosting economic growth, facilitating transportation, and raising everyone’s standard of living in Ghana.
The President also reiterated his vision for addressing traffic congestion in this critical part of Accra.
“When I had the honour of commissioning Phase One in 2020, I pledged to the people of Ghana that we would deliver the second phase as part of a comprehensive solution. Today, I am deeply gratified to declare that this promise has been fulfilled.”
With several advantages, Phase Two’s completion marks an important turning point in the development of infrastructure.
It will facilitate travel to Kaneshie and other parts of Accra and significantly improve traffic flow, particularly on routes to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
It is anticipated that this development will help thousands of Ghanaians by transforming nearby villages and opening up new economic opportunities.
Additionally, it is expected that the project will stimulate the capital’s economy by enabling the smooth flow of goods and services.
The President went on to say that cutting company expenses could draw more investment and support Ghana’s long-term growth and prosperity.
