Adamus Resources faces scrutiny over alleged illegal concession transfers

Adamus Resources Limited is under heightened scrutiny following allegations by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources that the company transferred portions of its mining concessions without the required approval of the sector minister.

According to the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Paa Kwesi Schandorf, the alleged action constitutes a breach of Ghana’s mining laws, specifically provisions under the Minerals and Mining Act which prohibit the transfer of mineral rights without prior written consent from the Lands Minister.

He indicated that the alleged unauthorised transfers were among the key grounds that informed the decision to revoke the company’s mining lease.

“The law is clear, mineral rights cannot be assigned or transferred without the express approval of the minister,” Mr. Schandorf stated, stressing the need for strict adherence to regulatory procedures within the mining sector.

The development comes at a time when Adamus Resources has been given a two-week deadline by the Lands Minister, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, to respond to a number of concerns raised in a petition submitted to the Ministry.

The company is expected to address the issues raised and provide the necessary clarification within the stipulated period.

Under Ghana’s Minerals and Mining Act, any transfer or assignment of mineral rights without prior written approval from the minister is considered unlawful and may attract sanctions, including the revocation of mining licences.

As of the time of filing this report, Adamus Resources Limited has not publicly responded to the allegations.

The situation continues to be closely monitored by industry stakeholders, as it may have implications for regulatory enforcement and investor confidence in Ghana’s mining sector.
