Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources, Ms. Angela List, has defended the company’s operational record following the revocation of its mining lease, insisting that the firm has consistently adhered to lawful practices and contributed to the fight against illegal mining in Ghana.
Madam List made these remarks during a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, where discussions were held regarding the circumstances surrounding the lease revocation.
According to her, Adamus Resources has always positioned itself as a responsible large-scale mining company, committed to regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. She noted that the company has submitted what she described as “ample evidence” to demonstrate its role in combating illegal mining, widely known as galamsey.
“We considered ourselves one of the responsible large-scale mining companies. We have presented ample evidence… trying to combat the menace of illegal mining,” she stated.
She further stressed that the company has no motivation to engage in unlawful mining activities, given its status as a recognised operator within the industry.
“We have no reason to conduct illegal mining and we never condone in that,” she added.
The meeting forms part of ongoing engagements between Adamus Resources and the Ministry, as authorities continue efforts to sanitise the mining sector and address the environmental impact of illegal mining across the country.
The revocation has triggered broader discussions within the industry, with stakeholders closely monitoring the situation and its potential implications for regulatory enforcement and investor confidence in Ghana’s extractive sector.
