Ex-EC Chair Charlotte Osei installed as Safohen

Former Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei, has been enstooled as Safohen of Nkum Asafo Group Number 4.

In a Facebook post on June 8, she shared her excitement at the opportunity, signing off as Safohen Nana Ama Kesson #nkumasafo #4.

The post included pictures of her adorned in traditional kente attire as a Queen Mother, brandishing a whip as a symbol of leadership alongside other individuals.

Additionally, Ms. Osei expressed her anticipation for this year’s Fetu Afahye festival, set to take place from September 1 to 7, 2024.

Fetu Afahye is an annual celebration observed by the people and royals of the Cape Coast Traditional Area, in Ghana’s Central Region. Festivities commence in late August, with the main event transpiring on the first Saturday of September.

Preceding the festival, the chief, known as the Omanhen, undergoes a period of seclusion where he seeks spiritual guidance and medical attention to ensure his readiness for the festivities.

The Omanhene emerges from seclusion with no grandeur, offering prayers to the 77 deities of the Oguaa state to bless the upcoming activities.
