The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has categorically dismissed claims circulating in sections of the media and across social platforms that it donated €12 million to support the Black Stars, describing the reports as entirely unfounded and misleading.
The rebuttal follows widespread assertions suggesting that proceeds from Ghana’s cocoa sector had been channelled to finance the national football team, an allegation the Board firmly denies.
In a clarifying statement, COCOBOD reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to its statutory mandate of safeguarding the interests of cocoa farmers and strengthening the cocoa value chain. The Board emphasized that its resources remain dedicated to ensuring prompt payment to farmers, the supply of essential agricultural inputs, the provision of extension services, and sustained investment in the growth and resilience of the cocoa industry.
It further stressed that no funds designated for farmer payments or cocoa sector operations have been diverted to the Black Stars or any related activity.

COCOBOD urged the public to disregard the misinformation and to rely exclusively on its official communication channels for credible updates. The Board reiterated that the welfare of Ghana’s cocoa farmers remains its foremost priority, highlighting their indispensable role in sustaining the nation’s cocoa economy.
