Ghanaian midfielder Francis Abu has been recalled by his French Ligue 1 club, Toulouse FC, following the serious injury he sustained while representing the Black Stars.
The 24-year-old was in action on Friday during the Kirin Challenge Cup clash against Japan. Despite starting the game on his feet, Abu suffered a broken leg in the second half and had to be stretchered off as Ghana fell 2-0.
Meanwhile, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has extended his support to the midfielder. In a post on Facebook reacting to the incident, Kurt Okraku wished the midfielder a speedy recovery, adding that he is confident Abu will return from the setback stronger and better.
“Speedy recovery son!!!
Ghana is with you. You will be back stronger and better!!” Kurt Okraku said.
The Ghana FA boss continued, “Thanks to our medical staff for the high level of support offered this far. Also to the medical staff of Toulouse FC who have been so so supportive. Finally, gracias to the entire medical staff of our Japanese brothers!!! Abu will be back by the grace of God.”
Abu is now expected to travel to France for further assessment and specialized treatment, with Toulouse FC committed to supporting his recovery in the months ahead.
