President John Dramani Mahama will today, Monday, November 17, 2025, administer the oath of office to Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Chief Justice, days after Parliament gave its approval to his nomination.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie was nominated on September 23, 2025, with President Mahama highlighting his “wealth of experience and distinguished service on the Bench,” having risen through the ranks of the High Court, Court of Appeal, and ultimately the Supreme Court.

He further emphasized a firm commitment to strengthening judicial independence and expanding access to justice for all citizens.

Parliament confirmed his appointment on November 13 with a 163–69 majority vote, paving the way for today’s swearing-in ceremony.
