Baku-based side Ekuzoa Sporting Academy kicked off their 2025/26 Western Regional Football Association (WRFA) Division II League – Zone 2B campaign in emphatic fashion, dispatching Great Nanas FC 3-1 at the Eikwe Astroturf on Monday afternoon.
The encounter started on a shaky note for the hosts after Godfred Assafuah capitalized on a defensive lapse to put Great Nanas FC ahead early in the game. The lead, however, was short-lived as Evans Etti quickly restored parity for Ekuzoa Sporting Academy just three minutes later, sparking life into the contest.
From that point, the home side seized control of the match, dominating possession and mounting sustained pressure on their opponents. Their persistence paid off in the latter stages when midfielder Ismael Allah found the back of the net to give the hosts the advantage. Substitute Obed Owusu Junior then put the game beyond doubt with a fine finish, sealing a memorable opening-day victory for the Baku-based outfit.
The win marks a dream start to the season for Ekuzoa Sporting Academy, who showcased impressive attacking intent, teamwork, and determination throughout the encounter.
The result will no doubt boost confidence within the camp as they look to build momentum in the upcoming fixtures of the Zone 2B campaign.
