Accra Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, has been awarded the prestigious Ghana Premier League (GPL) Goalkeeper of the Month accolade for September 2025, following a series of outstanding performances between the posts.
The 33-year-old shot-stopper played a pivotal role in his team’s defensive strength during the month, keeping three clean sheets across as many league fixtures. His remarkable consistency and sharp reflexes were evident, as he stood tall in goal, ensuring that the Phobians maintained a solid defensive record.

Asare’s impeccable form in September was a key factor in Hearts of Oak’s strong showing, helping the team secure important points on their pursuit of the league title. His performance reflects not just individual brilliance but also the discipline and organization at the back, which has been a hallmark of his play since joining the club.
Asare’s commanding presence and leadership in goal have been a significant asset to Hearts of Oak. With his wealth of experience, he has become an integral part of the team, offering both consistency and a calming influence to the defense.
However, Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford and Young Apostles striker Richmond Opoku won the Coach and Player of the Month in September respectively.
