Bibiani Gold stars began their Ghana Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bechem United at Dun’s Park in Bibiani.
Samuel Atta Kumi was the hero for the Miners, scoring twice from the spot in the first half to put his side in control.
The former Karela United forward converted both penalties, leaving the home fans buzzing.

Bechem United responded quickly through Darlvin Yeboah, who headed home to reduce the deficit, but despite their efforts they could not find another breakthrough.
Both sides went into the game with attacking intent, and the pace was intense right from kickoff. Bechem pressed high and looked dangerous on the counter, but Bibiani’s forwards moved with purpose and punished defensive lapses. Gold stars coach Stephen Frimpong Manso applauded his team’s sharpness and discipline, while Bechem’s coach Stephen Desmond-Issah Botchway pushed his men to fight back, with Yeboah’s goal giving them a lifeline.

The second half turned into a tactical battle as Gold Stars closed spaces and frustrated Bechem’s attacking flow.
The visitors threw men forward and tested the Miners’ backline, but the home side stayed compact, winning duels in midfield and slowing the tempo when needed.
Bibiani held firm until the final whistle, sealing an opening-day triumph that sets the tone for their campaign, while Bechem were left to rue missed chances and defensive lapses that cost them a share of the spoils.
