The newly established Governing Board of the Ghana Refugee Board (GRB) has been formally sworn into office by Interior Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak.
The Minister emphasized during the swearing-in event how important the Board is to advancing the welfare and dignity of refugees in the nation.
He exhorted them to put up every effort to guarantee that every refugee inside Ghana’s boundaries receives the help, care, and protection they require.

The majority of the more than 20,000 registered refugees from roughly 40 nations, most of whom are from neighboring Burkina Faso, are currently under the GRB’s care.
Alhaji Muntaka urged the Board to function with togetherness, dedication, and a strong sense of accountability, transparency, professionalism, and patriotism.
In addition to assuring the Board of the Government’s steadfast support, he said the Ministry of the Interior would keep provide the necessary assistance to enable them to fulfill their task.
“The constitution of this new Board marks a significant step in reinforcing the management of refugee affairs and upholding Ghana’s longstanding humanitarian values,” the Minister noted.
The newly sworn-in Board’s chairman, Hon. Joseph Azumah, thanked President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence placed in them. He promised that the Board would cooperate with all parties involved in order to improve the lives of refugees in Ghana.
