Thomas Partey denies rape charges

Ghanaian International midfielder, Thomas Teye Partey, through his lawyer, has denied all rape allegations brought against him and says he is ready to defend himself as the case heads to court.

“Partey denies all the charges against him and welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name,” said his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, in a statement to CNN.

The former Arsenal star is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5, following an investigation that began in February 2022.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that Partey will face multiple rape charges after a thorough review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police.

“Our prosecutors have worked closely with officers to review the evidence and advise on the appropriate charges,” said Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, stated that police remain focused on supporting the women involved. He urged anyone affected or with relevant information to reach out to detectives via [email protected].

Authorities have also cautioned the public against sharing commentary or information online that could compromise the ongoing legal proceedings. “Criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial,” the CPS added.

Partey’s contract with Arsenal ended at the on June 30, 2025. The midfielder, who joined the club in 2020, made 130 Premier League appearances and scored nine goals during his time in North London.
