Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister of Defense, has reiterated the government’s dedication to openness and equity in the hiring process for the Ghana Armed Forces.
He asserts that enlistment will be determined solely by merit and unaffected by financial or political ties. He made this statement at his Accra office when he met with the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Interior.

According to Dr. Boamah, the Ministry is committed to using transparent and equitable hiring procedures to maintain the integrity of the armed services.
“I emphasised that enlistment and recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces will be strictly merit-based and not for sale. We are committed to transparency and fairness in our recruitment process,” he posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday, 3rd July.

James Agalga, the Committee Chair, presided over the discussion, which was centered on the Ministry’s larger initiatives to improve national security and deal with the difficulties facing the security industry.
Dr. Boamah gave the committee an update on the Ministry’s current projects and reaffirmed the military’s critical need for cutting-edge platforms and gear to combat new challenges, especially in unstable regions.
Members of the Committee commended the Ministry for its dedication and pledged Parliament’s continued support.

“The committee expressed their support for the Ministry’s work and assured us of Parliament’s commitment to advocating and providing the necessary support towards maintaining national security,” Dr Boamah added.
In closing, he urged cooperation, stating, “Together, we can work towards a safer and more secure Ghana.”
