Today, Thursday, July 3, the seven recently confirmed Justices of the Supreme Court will formally take their oaths of office, signaling a major shift in the nation’s legal system.
President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to administer the oath of office to the incoming Justices during the anticipated swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House.
In line with Article 144 of the 1992 Constitution, their appointments come after parliamentary approval and screening earlier this year.
It is anticipated that the new Justices, who include seasoned justices from the Court of Appeal, would strengthen the Supreme Court’s ability to handle an increasing number of cases involving difficult civil and criminal appeals, constitutional interpretation, and electoral issues.
The newly confirmed justices are:
1. Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei
2. Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh
3. Justice Senyo Dzamefe
4. Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo
5. Justice Philip Bright Mensah
6. Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo
7. Justice Hafisata Amaleboba
