The Ghana Police Service has rescued a 12-year-old boy who was seen in a viral video tied with a nylon rope and being brutally beaten on the rooftop of a building in the New Ankasa community near Elubo in the Western Region.
According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Western Regional Police Headquarters, the boy was accused of stealing 200 cedis. The disturbing footage, which circulated widely on social media, sparked outrage among Ghanaians and prompted swift action from the Half Assini Division of the Police Service.

Two suspects, 58-year-old Issah Morro and 27-year-old Suleman Abdul Rashid, have been arrested in connection with the assault. Police say the suspects were clearly identified in the viral video and are currently in custody assisting with investigations.
The victim, following his rescue, has received medical attention and has since been reunited with his father, the statement confirmed.

Superintendent Olivia E. T. Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit in the Western Region, assured the public of the Police Service’s continued commitment to protecting lives and urged citizens to report any suspicious or harmful behavior to the nearest police station.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its zero tolerance for acts of mob justice and called on the public to uphold the rule of law by reporting crime rather than taking the law into their own hands.
