Former Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has described the economic policies of the flagearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as weapons of mass destruction.

Addressing a crowd in the Volta region as part of the campaign tour by the running mate of the NDC, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the NDC stalwart, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo expressed his utmost disappointment over the abysmal performance of the New Patriotic Party government.

According to him, the hardships faced by Ghanaians in recent times is unprecedented.

He stated that the economic policies of the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia can be akin to “weapons of mass destruction,” arguing that they have severely impacted the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.

He further urged electorates to support the Presidential candidate and his running mate by voting massively for the NDC and the NDC parliamentary candidates in the upcoming December 7 elections.

“President Akufo-Addo has become a weapon of mass destruction. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s economic policies have now become weapon of mass destruction, resulting in several fatalities,” he said.

Mr. Ampofo also stressed the NPP government collapsed a lot of indigenous businesses including banks. Notable amongst them are the companies of the former Presidential candidate and Founder of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.

“They have destroyed banks, community banks, the small microfinance companies have all been destroyed. They have also destroyed Paa Kwasi’s bank, which was providing services to women and people who want to be in the industry.

“ That is why Bawumia’s economic policies are weapons of mass destruction and we are not going to allow him to come and lie to Ghanaians again.”

He added that, if there is a candidate Ghanaians can trust, it should be former President John Dramani Mahama.

”Election is about trust in leadership and the person we can trust to deliver on promises . . . today he [Dr Bawumia] has run from the Economic Management Team and he is talking about digitization and yesterday he had the guts to say that President Mahama should not come close to the presidency.”

“I want to tell Dr Bawumia that the backbones, the fibre optics and the Accra Digital Centre were put in place by John Dramani Mahama. What have you put in place?”
