In a digital era where children are only a click away from harmful content, early education on cyber safety is no longer a luxury—it is a necessity. On this note, Your Cyber Guardian, a cybersecurity-focused organization, held its second major educational outreach, Cyber Outreach 2.0, at Cosmos Basic School, with the aim of equipping young students with knowledge and tools to navigate online spaces safely.
The initiative was carefully designed to address increasing online threats affecting children, including cyberbullying, sextortion, phishing, and exposure to online nudity. The interactive session made complex topics digestible for the basic school students, combining storytelling, demonstrations, and open dialogue.
Engaging Presentations, Practical Lessons

Led by Salamatu Chator Ibrahim, the outreach featured a team of passionate young speakers supported by a dedicated logistics crew. The team ensured a smooth and impactful experience for both students and staff.
Highlights of the session included:
Rafiatu Ibrahim, who addressed the growing issue of cyberbullying. She introduced the “BLOCK” method—a simple, memorable acronym:

B – Block the bully
L – Log out
O – Own your thoughts
C – Capture evidence
K – Keep calm

Sharon Prempeh, who shared insight on sextortion, shedding light on how online predators manipulate unsuspecting children. She narrated a real-life story involving a young boy who was tricked and blackmailed by an adult posing as a peer.

Precious Tidogo Asampoah, who educated students on the dangers of phishing, demonstrating how to spot suspicious links and avoid falling victim to online scams.
The session ended with a lively and interactive Q&A segment led by Salamatu herself, where students asked insightful questions and were rewarded with cybersecurity-themed educational materials.
Beyond the Classroom
Speaking to EkuzoaNews.com, Salamatu noted that the outreach’s impact was deeply felt.
“We were inspired by how actively the students engaged with the topics,” she said. “One moment that stood out was discovering how many had already faced cyberbullying. It reaffirmed the urgency of our work.”

The success of Cyber Outreach 2.0 was not only due to the delivery of content but also the seamless coordination behind the scenes—documentation, media coverage, and student engagement all contributed to a well-rounded event.
A Growing Movement
Your Cyber Guardian’s mission centers on empowering children as the first line of defense in the digital world. With every outreach, the organization moves closer to building a generation that is digitally aware, resilient, and responsible.

“While laws and technical solutions are important, they can’t erase the emotional scars of digital abuse,” the team shared. “Our work is about prevention—arming children with awareness before the harm occurs.”
A Call to Action

The organization is calling on schools, parents, and stakeholders to join the mission.
Schools interested in hosting similar programs are encouraged to reach out.
Partners and sponsors passionate about child safety online are invited to collaborate.
Parents and educators are urged to start conversations with children about the realities of online threats.
“We may not be able to change the internet overnight,” the team concluded, “but we can prepare every child we reach to navigate it wisely.”
