On Friday, hundreds of supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), including a few of the party’s parliamentary candidates, took to the streets to rejoice over the reinstatement of Prof. Richard Asiedu, the party’s suspended Central Regional Chairman.

Placards reading “We miss you prof., with Prof. Richard Asiedu agenda 20 parliamentary seats is possible, Prof. Asiedu is a threat to the NPP in the Central Region, the NDC is highly proud of you, Prof. K. Aseidu Central Region under you shall deliver victory for NDC, under you we know every vote will be counted without fear or favour” and other similar statements were seen carried by the supporters.

After being suspended for a month for anti-party behaviour, the reinstated Chairman addressed the assembly, saying, “My suspension has given me a lesson to work extremely hard to win 60% votes for the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.”

In his parable-based speech over his suspension, Prof. Kofi Asiedu stated, “A person cutting the path doesn’t know that it is crooked.”

He reassured party supporters that because the Central Regional NDC is a swing region, cooperation is necessary to win Agenda 20 parliamentary seats and sizable victories for Dramani Mahama.

Given this, he made a plea to the electorate, particularly to those who support the NDC party, asking them not to cast “skirt and blouse” ballots. If given the chance to govern Ghana, Dramani Mahama needs more NDC MPs to form his next government.

“The New Patriotic Party(NPP) who were happy about my suspension should be ready for me because I will not sit at my office and work but will hit grounds for house-to-house business”. He served notice.

Prof. Kofi Asiedu assured NDC supporters that their efforts will enable the nation and the party to elect the nation’s first female vice president.
