During an appreciation service at the Ringway Gospel Assemblies of God Church in Osu, Accra, president-elect John Dramani Mahama was seen personally delivering food baskets to churchgoers.
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, Mahama, dressed in an all-white kaftan, looked happy as he distributed the parcels to the congregation following the conclusion of the ceremony alongside his wife, Lordina Mahama, and other family members.
The congregation welcomed the white boxes with excitement, including a printed picture of Mahama and a note of gratitude. Among other things, the bundles contained jollof rice, a can of drink, and a bottle of water.
When Mahama personally delivered the items to the congregation members, they were thrilled and thanked.
Throughout the ceremony, Mahama expressed gratitude to the congregation and church leadership for their prayers and support during his time as president.
There have been conflicting responses to the incident, which was caught on camera and extensively disseminated on social media.
Some online users applauded the newly elected president for his hands-on attitude, seeing it as a sign of statesmanship, while others expressed surprise at his personal gesture.
