According to the Bank of Ghana’s Summary of Economic and Financial Data for March 2025, mobile money transactions in the nation fell from GHC 333 billion in January to GHC 316 billion in February 2025.
In comparison, a larger transaction value of GHC 334.8 billion was recorded in December 2024.
The value of mobile money transactions increased steadily throughout the course of the previous year.
In a similar vein, there were 698 million transactions in February 2025 as opposed to 726 million in January. In December 2024, there were a record 745 million transactions.
However, the number of transactions has increased significantly from 609 million in February 2024 to 698 million in February 2025 when compared to the same period last year.
Industry observers predict a major upturn in the sector in the upcoming months with the recent removal of the 1% electronic money fee on mobile money transactions.
