The U.S. Department of State has announced plans to issue a limited number of special passports featuring an image of President Donald Trump.
Officials say the redesigned passports will commemorate the 250th anniversary of United States independence.
A State Department spokesperson, Tommy Pigott, said the new passports will include customized artwork while maintaining standard security features.
According to officials, the design will feature Trump’s image and a gold signature on the inside cover. The back cover will display artwork from The Declaration of Independence painting by John Trumbull.
The Department plans to begin issuing the passports this summer, although it has not confirmed how many will be produced.
Authorities say the special edition passports will be available primarily through the Washington Passport Agency, while other locations and online applications will continue using the current design.
The move forms part of a broader set of commemorative initiatives marking the country’s 250th anniversary.
