The Ultimate Voice of Western Region, a civic group based in the Jomoro District, has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama, expressing concerns over recent appointments to the Petroleum Hub Corporation in the Jomoro Municipality. The group contends that none of the three appointed Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) hail from Jomoro or belong to the Nzema ethnic group, despite the region hosting the critical national project.
In a petition dated March 14, 2025, the group described the appointments as alarming and disheartening, calling the situation a glaring act of marginalization against the Nzema people and the Western Region at large. They argued that the appointments undermine principles of equity, inclusivity, and regional representation, which are essential in governance.
The petition highlighted allegations of potential nepotism, stating that two of the appointed CEOs—Halimatu Sadia Abdulai (Deputy CEO of Petroleum Hub) and Onasis Rosely (Deputy CEO of Petroleum Hub Corporation)—are reportedly direct relatives of the Minister of Energy, Hon. John Jinapor. The group raised concerns about conflicts of interest and breaches of good governance principles, urging the President to address the issue.
The Ultimate Voice of Western Region called on the President to ensure that at least one qualified Nzema professional is appointed to a top executive position within the Petroleum Hub Corporation. They emphasized that this move would promote social cohesion, fairness, and regional inclusion in managing the project.
Signed by Anthony Morkeh, the Founder and Executive Secretary of the group, the petition urged swift intervention and reaffirmed their commitment to constructive engagement for transparency and national unity.
The petition was copied to several key stakeholders, including Members of Parliament from Jomoro and Evalue Ajomoro-Gwira, the Minister of Energy, the Council of State, and traditional authorities in the region.
